This sculpture which is made of brass and stone, depicts a transcendence and progression of the human self. It is meant to show an individual who is grounded (literally rooted) to earth, connected to nature and is ready to take flight to explore the world beyond. It is a celebratory leap of faith and confidence shown in the form.
This sculpture has been made in the Devrai Art Village in Panchgani, where a group of art students including me went to learn the 'Lost Wax Technique' with the help of the Adivasis.
