Faiz Ahmed Faiz was a poet and author in Urdu and Punjabi language. He was one of the most celebrated writers of the Urdu language in Pakistan. His poem Sheeshon Ka Maseehan Koi Nahi has been translated to English so that his work is more accessible for the people today. The original text has been preserved as ell.
The illustrations are part of a collaborative effort from the Srishti B.Voc Batch of 22' where two stanzas were assigned to groups and the spreads were designed accordingly.
The book cover is designed individually, drawn on Procreate and edited in Adobe Indesign.
"The hand that comes forward is to support you, The eyes that gaze are to protect you,
There is no end to prosperity here, Even if the dacoits are lying in wait,
When has the stature of your being been threatened by these petty thieves, All the mountains are diamonds all the oceans are pearls"
Analysis: This stanza brings the uplifting part of the poem to light. it is at this point Faiz Ahmed Faiz reminds us that people are here to help, and within you there is strength- why should you let others (dacoits) scare you when the riches are within you and surround you in nature.
